The purpose of this qualification is to assess the competence of occupational health and safety practitioners. It is aimed at those who have responsibility for the development, implementation and review of health and safety procedures within an organisation.

This qualification is for those who are working in occupational health and safety practitioner roles within an organisation.

On completion of this course you will gain a Black Managers Card (once you’ve passed the Managers and Professionals Health Safety and Environment CSCS Test).

Course Content

Mandatory Unit Group: You must complete all units in this group (credit value in bracket).

  • Promote a Positive Health and Safety Culture (4)
  • Develop and Implement Effective Communication Systems for Health and Safety Information (8)
  • Develop and Maintain Individual and Organisational Competence in Health and Safety Matters (10)
  • Control Health and Safety Risks (18)
  • Develop, Implement and Review Proactive Monitoring Systems for Health and Safety (10)
  • Develop, Implement and Review Reactive Monitoring Systems for Health and Safety (15)
  • Develop and Implement Health and Safety Review Systems (8)
  • Develop, Implement and Monitor Behavioural Safety in the Workplace (7).

Optional Unit Group: You must complete two units from this group (credit value in bracket).

  • Manage Contractors to Ensure Compliance with Health and Safety (9)
  • Develop and Implement Health and Safety Induction Processes (9)
  • Influence and Keep Pace with Improvements in Health and Safety Practice (8)
  • Develop and Implement the Health and Safety Policy (14)
  • Develop and Implement Health and Safety Emergency Response Systems and Procedures (12).

You will need to be 18 years old as a minimum. You should have experience in Occupational Health and Safety and/or a qualification such as the NOCN Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

NOCN Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice

You will be assessed against the assessment criteria. Evidence will be collated in a portfolio. You are internally and externally assessed.
