Free recruitment training programme to make candidates job ready.
Do you need an effective way to recruit or upskill your workforce? Construction College Midlands can help.

Through our bespoke construction trades-led programmes, we’ll find and prepare suitable candidates to take on the duties you need them to do.

Construction Gateway is an initiative which enables employers to customise the content of short courses to build a pipeline of skilled new recruits.

Construction College Midlands (part of Walsall College), is part of a network of colleges and providers who are collaborating to provide a consistent, high quality region-wide offer, working directly with employers to design programmes that equip potential recruits with the specific skills required.

Construction Gateway is focusing on areas of high demand and projected key skills shortages including roofing, scaffolding, groundworks and highways. In a sector as diverse as construction, we are developing programmes to deliver a wide range of skills to suit the needs of employers.

We also have funding to deliver training and certification such as CSCS cards.

All this takes place at our Birmingham-based training centre equipped with working environments, specialist equipment and expert trainers who know the industry inside out.

There is no cost to the employer, these are fully funded by the DWP. All we ask is that you guarantee all applicants an interview once they complete their training programme.

Contact our team on businesstrainingsolutions@walsallcollege.ac.uk for further details.

Training is delivered at Construction College Midlands based in Kings Norton, Birmingham.

There is no cost to employers for this training. We do ask that employers offer an interview an the end of the training.

We will ask employers to specify the training they require for their programme candidates. When they have completed this, we will invite the employer to interview them.

Employers are also welcome to visit the candidates during their training if they wish.

Candidates will undertake an initial assessment, followed by four weeks full training before they are issued with a CSCS card or CISRS’s Scaffold Labourers Card and are able to work onsite for the scaffolding course.

Employers must guarantee an interview for the training to commence. On completion of the course, we will purchase the candidates a relevant card.
