Aims & Objectives:

The course aims to ensure that individual responsibilities are understood:

  • Why they are carrying out their identified duties
  • What is expected of them
  • To ensure that they contribute to the safety of the workplace.

At the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the need to prevent accidents
  • Have an understanding of health and safety law
  • Identify how their role fits into the control and management of the site
  • Understand the need for risk assessments and method statements
  • Appreciate the need to perform safely and to stop and ask for advice if not sure
  • Feel obliged to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident.

Delegates must be competent in English at operative level. The course content is suited to all ability levels.

SSP H&S Awareness Certificate

Assessment will be by an end of course examination. The delegate must pass the exam in order to achieve certification for this course.

The examination paper forms the basis of the assessment as to whether or not a delegate has successfully achieved a satisfactory level of health and safety awareness to allow a certificate of achievement to be issued.

Examination The question paper consists of 25 multiple-choice questions.

CITB grant is available to eligible CITB levy paying companies.
