The Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations Management -General qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification.

This qualification enables you to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work as a specialist in general construction contracting operations management within the construction industry.

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification.

This qualification supports you to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge.

On completion of this qualification you will have obtained the skills, knowledge and understanding and demonstrated competence to progress on to a higher level qualification in the same or similar occupational area or enable entry into supervisory and management positions within the workplace.

Industry will accept the qualification on its own as entry to a job role.

On completion of this course you will gain a Black Managers Card (once you’ve passed the Managers and Professionals Health Safety and Environment CSCS Test).

Course Content

Qualification Structure: To achieve this qualification a minimum of 81 credits need to be attained. This comprises 31 credits from the 4 units in the Mandatory Group, units plus a minimum of 50 credits from at least 3 units from the Optional Group.

Mandatory Group: You must achieve 31 credits from the 4 units in this Mandatory Group (credit value in brackets).

  • Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility (5)
  • Maintain health, safety and welfare system in construction contracting operations management (10)
  • Develop and maintain working relationships and personal development in construction contracting operations management (8)
  • Chair meetings and take decisions in construction contracting operations management (8).

Optional Group: You must achieve a minimum of 50 credits from at least 3 units in this Optional Group (credit value in brackets).

  • Specify and control production documents in construction contracting operations management (18)
  • Prepare procurement schedules and programmes of works in construction contracting operations management (16)
  • Prepare and agree contract accounts and entitlement in construction contracting operations management (14)
  • Plan measured surveys in construction contracting operations management (14)
  • Optimise and control contract progress and costs in construction contracting operations management (13)

There are no formal entry requirements to take this qualification. This qualification can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.
